Call for Membership
South Asia Network of Economic Research Institutes (SANEI) is the South Asian arm of the Global Development Network (GDN) and is a non-profit, regional initiative established in 1998, to foster networking amongst economic research institutions in the South Asia region for establishing strong linkages pertaining to broader concerns of South Asian development. The SANEI Secretariat is currently located at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
SANEI comprises of member institutes based in the countries of South Asia (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka), and has the objective of fostering strong research inter-linkages among member countries. Initiatives have now been taken to expand the SANEI network to remaining SAARC countries (Afghanistan, Bhutan, and Maldives).
SANEI has a membership of 59 research institutes in the South Asia region. At present, there are 15 research institutes from Bangladesh, 26 from India, 3 from Nepal, 10 from Pakistan and 5 from Sri Lanka as its members.
With a view to expanding its outreach, SANEI is inviting applications for membership from economic research institutions in the South Asian Region. Scholars from the member institutions are eligible to compete for research grants in the annual Regional Research Competitions (RRCs) organized by SANEI. The interested economic research institutions may apply by sending us the completed application form along with brief research activities of the institution and a cover letter to The SANEI Secretariat.
