Eligibility for Membership
1. The entities eligible for membership shall be non-profit economic research Institutes in Member Countries.
2. The Institute(s) must fulfill the Membership Criteria collectively laid out as follows:
- The Institute must be a non-profit entity domiciled in South Asia;
- The Institute should be actively engaged in economic research relating to development processes, wherein "actively engaged" would be defined by reference to the number of its publications;
- The Institute must be committed to promote the objectives of the Society, which commitment shall be determined by
(i) its past record, or
(ii) its work programme or mission statement; and
- The Institute shall not engage in activities detrimental to the cause of the Society.
3. A Member shall enjoy free membership upon enrollment for the first year, which shall be renewed annually upon the payment of the Membership Fee.
4. A Member shall be liable to pay a sum of US$ 100 (US Dollars One Hundred) (or, if required by law, the Taka equivalent) as an annual Membership Fee that shall be payable on or before 1st of May, every year, wherein a Member which is in arrears for 3 consecutive months on the 1st of August of any year shall cease to be a Member of the Society from that date. The amount and rate of recurrence of the Membership Fee shall be decided by the Steering Committee and shall be subject to review every 5 (five) years.
5. The Member Institute(s) shall continue to remain Members until such time that it voluntarily resigns from the Society by notifying its resignation in writing to the Coordinator or is terminated in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of membership.
6. Each Institute qualified to become a Member, shall notify, in its Letter of Application to the Steering Committee, the name of its Member Designate and any changes to the same shall be notified in writing by email, fax or post.
7. The Members shall ensure that only director of the Member shall be notified as its Member Designate.
